The Jamaican American Association of Central Florida, a 501 (C) (3) organization, was formed approximately twenty three years ago as the influx of Jamaicans to the Central Florida region increased. It then became evident to its founding members (to whom I am extremely grateful) that there was a need for an organization such as this. The Association meets between 4: 00 P. M. and 6: P. M. on the second Sunday of each
Month at Holy Family Episcopal Church located at 1010 N. Hiawassee Rd. (North of SR. 50, West Colonial Drive) Meetings that falls on Easter Sunday or Mothers day are
Postponed to the third Sunday, and we do not meet during the month of December.
Some of the focal points of this organization are, to provide a support group for its members, while creating awareness and interest in Caribbean culture and affairs. It is our aim to provide economic and educational opportunity for our members, and establish
Good relationship with other Caribbean Associations. Our Motto “Out Of Many, One People” is being echoed around the world by countries and people of all races. As Jamaicans, we can truly be proud of our inclusiveness, prominence and the contributions we have made around the world. The year 2009 will go down in history as the first African American, Mr. Barrack Obama, was inaugurated on January 20th 2009 to become the 44th President of the United States of America. I am reminded of the famous phrase of the Rev. Jesse Jackson; “Keep Hope
Alive” therefore, let us continue to mentor and empower our youths, “the leaders of tomorrow” and to expand the educational opportunity for them. As you browse our website, you will find our Mission Statement and other detailed information regarding membership, as well as a list of some of the activities of the organization. Thanks for having logged on, and hope you will consider becoming a member very soon. Together we can make a difference, Yes We Can.
